2020 Maxima Crash

Two weeks ago I was cruising alone on a country back road traveling about 52 mph at a steady speed.. Then out of the blue a van appeared to my left and I don't think I even got out 'oh ****'. My 2020 Maxima SL was T-boned at approximately 45-50 mph by a Chevy 3500 passenger van (GVW 9,600 lbs) loaded with 15 people. So between the two vehicles there was 1 fatality, and 15 injuries.

My Maxima was t-boned by approximately 12,000 lbs total and I lived to tell about it. I have some painful injuries but I should recover 100%. I'm thinking in most cars I would not have survived. Thank you Maxima!!!

EDIT: I forgot to mention the driver of the van barrelled though a stop sign, confirmed by a witness and the driver himself.

Thanks for sharing what happened. What were your injuries? Did the side and curtain airbags help? Your Maxima is rated highly in govt crash tests and I am grateful you are recovering.

I'm sure the airbags helped as they were the only thing (and the door) between me and the van. I have 6 cracked ribs, a fractured pubic bone, a small bone in my leg broken, but they said no need to repair, and a severely swollen left leg with a large hematoma. Was in the hospital for 9 days, now in a inpatient therapy facility to recover. At this point I can only walk about 20 ft in a walker before I get too fatigued. Once the hematoma dissipates I should be fine.
