Panoramic Curtain
Hey roomies (am a transplant from Gen 7)
my 17 platinum back roof curtain shows no sign to close. The front one does closing and opening. where should I start surgery? https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....1eeb49cd5.jpeg |
Have to ask, does it have it's own fuse?

i can check but most likely not since it operates on the same switch. |
This is an expensive proposition to fix due to the headliner removal. Maybe better to live with it since the front part works. I keep my liner half open so there is not much need to cycle it often.

@robtroxel
so the back curtain is ripped away from the lead slider tray - uncertain why someone chose to do this. the part cost a little over $500, and yes, will have to take down the headliner ( did this on my tundra before) surgery is in order, give a good weekend coming soon |
Sounds like you have the patience and skill to operate. Keep us posted on the outcome.

I will.
Am intimate w the ‘11 (still have her at 309k miles and tons of DIY, short of physically taking out the engine and Tran, am daring … ) plus good folks on the 7th gen platform - @LtLeary is a great “go-to, knowledgeable and a Big contributor 👊👊. |
Surgery took about 90 minutes, will do best to summarize
previous owner took a bread knife to the rear curtain found part in Dubai, $230 and arrived in 1 week. remove front pillars and headliner electricals, hangars, plus door moldings pull down headliner from front to middle of sunroof (don’t touch rear) expose center brace then unscrew the 4 8mm screws, plus 8 hecht screws remove curtain, and installed new curtain test electrical to ensure curtain open and closed… Bingo I know I could say more in details but this is the snip…. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....4d6b86d8f.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....295c2581d.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....9643ee61b.jpeg |
Well done and a great way you demystified this repair. You saved a chunk of change
