bushing question

well i was reading sport compact and someone asked a question about bushings, saying they wanted to get a full bushing kit but the machanic said the suspension would break from the constant shock from the mexico city streets. the sport compact guy said this was true and a good route to go was change the bushings that control lateral movement and keep the bushings that control vertical stock.

this makes perfect sense. now which bushings on the A32 control side to side movement?

Just thinking about it it'd say that the LCA bushings control lateral movement and the sway bar end link bushings would be the ones responsible for vertical movement. When you hit a bump and your LCA moves, it would move up and "smoosh" the sway bar against the bushing, compressing it. The LCA bushings however would realize very little if any compression, being as the LCA links PIVOT inside the bushing, rather than the bushing being designed to absorb any real vertical compression.

That's my take on it. I'd take what SCC said with a grain of salt though, I've NEVER heard of poly bushings deteriorating prematurely because of bad roads. I suspect it could happen, but it would take a very long time and frankly, at the whopping 86 CENTS that the end link bushings cost... I'll take the increased responsiveness they offer and replace them every few years if necessary (which I highly doubt).
