Bottom Scraping

6th gen - stock suspension

lately it seems like the bottom is scraping when I go over speed bumps - i hear what sounds like metal scraping when it's inbetween my front and rear wheels when - this sound didn't used to occur

overall the ride seems the same - there is no added weight in the car - is there anything that could be causing this that is screwed up with my suspension? any tests i can personally do or anything visually i can check? - i have little experience in this area

Is it coming from the rear? My best guess would be sway bar bushings/mounts. But your saying "metal scraping sound," so i'm not too sure. May also be blown struts, but once again that does not sound like scraping metal.

Maybe you're just dragging a piece of metal under your car?!

the metal scraping sounds like the exhaust or something else under the car is scraping the speed bump - my car isn't lowered and speed bumps this is occuring on it didn't used to (and no i didn't gain an extra 100 lbs )

how do you check for blown struts?

check heat shields under the cat/exhaust. they sometimes come loose and make a scraping noise against the bottom of the car.
