powdercoating claipers
powdercoating claipers
well i picked up a set of z32 allum calipers from the yard
today i took em apart, they seemed ok, but ima get a seal kit
anyway, the NISSAN logo is messed up on both of them, im going to shave it, and get them powercoard RED
i want to get NISSAN back on there,
#1 get it painted on, and clearcoat the whole caliper
#2 get a sticker, then clearcoat over it
idk which one to do

i'd get it painted on, but it might be easier and cheaper to get a sticker.....if you're going to powedercoat them, I think you need a mylar sticker unless the vinyl is some high-temp variety.
ok well now i got a problem
i ordered a new seal set
only thing is, there is a small oring inbetween the caliper peices , where the fluid travles side to side
the dealer has no way of getting it, unless i get a whole caliper
HAS ANYONE got anyof these????
here is a pic

i have it sitting over the bolt hole
its not a typical o ring, it has flat edges, also a rugular o ring will get eatten up by the fluid

i think there was a post about this a while back, some guy had the same inquiry and problem....IIRC, they couldn't be bought by the dealer, as you've discovered and I don't think he had any success getting some. BUT, maybe you can google a few brake remanufacturers out there and see if you can buy some from them. That's the only thing I can think of. Or, just sell those calipers and actually get a better set, esp one with the NISSAN lettering intact.
There is another method but I am in no way condoning this; use your own metric of ethics to sort out if you can and will do this: A friend of mine had a similar problem and ended up buying the caliper from the dealer, opened up the caliper, took the O-ring out and closed the caliper back up...and yes, he returned it to the dealer for a refund, without the dealer knowing any better. I think that's pretty messed up, but hey people find ways around things.
Good luck

who is doing ur coating...cause ill do it cheaper......to do the sticker under the clear the sticker will have to stand up to oven heat which it should....i would do it under.....pics of calipers in question
