Arrow What to BBK pick

IDK what to get i called stillin to day and asked about the BBK and a rep told me they do have AP and they are the best as far performance goes also there are used in F1 racing and there is no issues and I asked about the Brembo I was told there was caliper leaking issues also it would be less of a hassle to have the AP than brembro

I want to go for the AP because of price $1895
But I have one guy who is trying to sell the Brembo of his max for $2100

idk I need help please help me make the right choice

Haha. I've never heard of Brembo caliper leaking issues. Do you own research on that one. The "less of a hassle part" is because they carry AP in stock. Brembo is a special order. So, of course, they are going to push AP.

According to my research, there are no more NEW Brembo GT kits available. Used is your only choice now.

AP's rotors are a little bit on the heavy side. I have the weight info at home. Keep in mind that the kit they are selling doesn't give you 2 piece rotors (if that matters to you). 2 piece rotors are additional $$$$$. By the time I put together a AP kit with 2 piece rotors, it was the just about the same money as Brembo. However, Brembo's 2 piece rotors are lighter than AP's 2 piece rotors, so the choice was clear for me.

And, if it matters to you, AP's rotors are cross-drilled and slotted. Brembo's are only "drilled".

If you don't care about a little extra weight, the AP's function just fine from what I've read.

The AP kit does look the best IMO.

Ehh... go for Brembo. Unless you have boat anchors on there.

1. WTF is Brembro? It's Brembo man.. get it right.

2. Save yourself $1000+ and go with a Wilwood kit from Fastbrakes or someone else. They perform just as well for a fraction of the cost, and parts are cheap and easy to come by. Pads are $100/set. Replacement wilwood calipers are about $150 each, and rotors about $130 each.

Pads for the AP or Brembo sets are much higher, and you don't even want to think about replacing the rotors or calipers..

^^^So true. You should've had Wilwood in your Poll. Any particular reason why your're against Wilwood or did you just not know about them?

Just in case you didn't know, chances that your rims will clear any of these BBK's is slim and none. What rims do you have?

See this thread if you haven't already.

So true about the weight, the 1-piece cast-iron 13" rotors for AP Racing are 20lbs!!!

The calipers, on the other hand, I believe are 6lbs vs. 8 or 9lbs for Brembos (that is, if their site lists the weights in kg and not lbs.) And if I'm not mistaken the AP Racing calipers are actually a little larger than the Brembo GT calipers in their Maxima kit (that doesn't mean they have larger pads though).

I've seen just slotted Brembos, maybe not for Maximas but definitely out there.

On a side note, I'm not 100% sure yet as I haven't installed them but I believe the G35 kits will work for Maximas. I've got a set of AP Racing G35 calipers/rotors and they fit on one of my spare knuckles, I'll have to check for sure once I cut back the dust shield but I'm 99% they will fit without problems. So if someone was interested in Brembo GT kits a G35 kit would probably work.

I choose "3": Wilwoods. Same performance, half the cost.
