stitch welding????

hey just wondering if anyone on the org, ever stitched weld all the seams to improve the structure of the uni body?

It's been talked about, but there is sealer in a lot of the joints so it would be a mess. Look into structural foam or SFCs if you want more rigidity. There is ample information to be searched for.

ehh the seam sealer aint that big of a problems with the right tools.....but i have my car in my shop gettin stripped down and the front end fix so i gotta strip most of the sealer out anyway......figured that i might try it and see if it helps my massive wheel hop issue

Sadly I doubt it would help your wheel hop. I am guessing you are getting this while drag racing or hard launches?

To fix that I would look at wheel/tire/suspension and a host of other issues prior to pondering seam welding which would add some structural rigidity without adding significant weight which is of value to road racers and the like.

yeah im goin through and goin to put some new bc coils on it...and maybe some custom fender braces, and all new bushings,motor mounts and finish up my custom engine torque dampener
......yeah im goin to make a stupid kid move and throw all sorts of stupid money at this thing

stitch welding is a type of weld. seam welding is what you do to a car chassis to stiffen it up.

seam welding will increase the rigidity, but not in the amount you need to control wheel hop. fractional improvement when you need major stuff done. go read in the drag racing forum what people have done to solve wheel hop issues. the main things are better bushings in the suspension and subframe, as well as stiffer engine and tranny mounts.

i like the idea of subframe connectors, just not the cage....its not that streetable

Neither of them are going to solve your problem though. the problem is the loose front suspension and engine mounts. neither cage nor subframe connectors will go anywhere near there.
But yes, both will help stiffen the chassis and make the car handle and ride better.
