Tips on pulling motor

Well my trans is already out along with both axles and crossmember. So i have decided to pull the motor also. I am thinking of going with a 3.5 swap. What is the easiest way to disconect the power steering pump disconect the hose or unbolting it from the engine? It may not be used with the 3.5. Is it easier to lower or lift the engine out? I really don't want to remove the y-pipe with the engine still in the car and i can easily take the bolts from the cat out to disconect it. Will the engine come out the top with the y still on? The only other things to remove would be the ac compressor and passenger engine ount.Any other tips.

Either way...if you have a lift...drop the motor, lift the car...if no lift...lift the motor out as you already have the tranny and stuff off.

I prefer to disconnect the PS hoses from the reservoir.

I think you may have trouble lifting the engine up out of the bay if you don't remove the y-pipe first. It sticks out pretty far to the back. You'll end up having to tilt the engine a lot.

Now, if you lower the engine and lift the front of the car up, then it would be easy.

It was easier for me to remove the engine from the top. Remove the y-pipe also, doesnt take long and it will make it easier when removing the engine. When I lifted the engine up enough, almost out of the engine bay, I unbolted the power steering pump so I would not have to disconnect any lines.

Also, you can unbolt the AC compressor from the engine and leave it in the engine bay without disconnecting the freon lines.

It is one of the stock transmission to bellhousing bolts. I dont think it is the same bolt that goes there, I just picked one of the longer ones and it worked fine.
