Searching for 00VI in New Zealand, photo included, does everything look the same ?

Well jumping the gun a little bit, mainly because I dont know what all I will need besides the 00VI upper intake manifold. The maximas/cefiros have so many more variations than in the USA, from vq20de,vq25de,vq30de and so on. Some of the cars have stock mevi, and a totally different ecu.

With my limited knowledge on this subject, I would like you guys that have experience to look this engine bay over and let me know if everything looks the same as the us spec one.

I have sourced the 00VI, but i have a huge problem, i just jumped into this swap idea this week, and dont know what else to take off the engine.

Could anyone give me a shopping list of parts to make sure I get off all the things i need, to get this thing working ?

I believe there are a few ways to install this, and I need to keep it simple.

does the lower manifold have to be drilled for the 00VI , no matter which setup you do ?

which setup is most people going with:

1. 4th gen fuel rail and 4th gen lower manifold
2. 5th gen fuel rail and 5th gen lower manifold

which would be the easiest ?

That looks like the 00VI to me.

Well a lot of people go with reusing a lot of 4th gen items such as lower manifold, TB, IACV, and injectors. All you need is an adaptor plate for the 4th TB, adaptor plate for the 4th IACV, drill new holes in the lower manifold. The smart way to go I think is 5th upper, 5th TB, adaptor plate for 4th IACV, drill holes in lower manifold.
Other things you will need is 00 egr guide tube (if you want to keep the egr).
Bolts and vaccum hoses.

Using #2 you don't have to drill the LM. IMO this is easier and also better from a performance standpoint. There are still pros and cons though.

Ceasar what's the deal with this car... can you take what you want.. what exactly are they selling? Do you have to jump on this right away? What's your budget for the swap?

I'm at work and can't take a lot of time right now but I'll respond to your PM a bit later on and get you more info... it'd be easier to have a chat on AIM or something too.

Ceasar I'm using Trillian too.. at home. I'm not online on anything right now as I'm at work. In fact I gotta run in a few minutes. But I'll check in a few hours later, if you're still on we'll try to get the chat working and if not I'll just PM you. I have no idea what the time difference is in NZ with EST here.. lol

Sorry I can't help you out with the 00VI. If you were looking for help with the MEVI I would have a lot to say. Good choice going with the 00VI though since they generally produce more hp.

Why are you jumping into this setup so quickly (take your time to see if you really want to do this, 00VI takes some modifying doesn't it?)? When I suggested it to you I didn't think you were gonna go out in the same week and look for one!

A killer looking ride and 13's aren't far away.

That install link is from a buddy of mine in Louisville. You'd be better off with info from the all motor stickies & search here. That's where he got his info.

2002 and no vq35? it looks exactly like a 00-01 DEK

Caesar make sure that it has EGR, the 01 A33 AE doesn't use the EGR system and there is no opening for the guide tube on the Upper IM. it also looks like a California spec engine judging by the two nipples (lol!) in the vias assembly on the upper manifold, hte lower intake manifold with the fuel rails/injectors probably has the swirl valves, that you most certainly don't want. i'd say try to find a 00 fed spec lower IM to use with the 290cc injectors. you might need the IACV adapter plate if you plan on using the IACV (some people just have the sensors connected, with iacv dangling about) and lastly depending on which TB you will use, you might need a bracket for 4th gen or PF tb. DEK tb fits with no modifications and is the same size as the 4th gen tb. however if you use the PF TB you will have a cold start issue (no way around it yet)

i wonder how fast you'll run with the 00vi over the MEVI

Here's the shopping list of all things you'll need to make is as "bolt on" as possible:

5th gen upper
5th gen lower
5th gen fuel rail and unjectors
5th gen injector plugs (solder them on your existing wires...piece of cake)
5th gen TB
5th gen rear valve cover and rear coil packs
4th gen IACV adapter plate (Stephen Max)
5th gen EGR guide tube (if you want to keep the EGR system. If not, just put a bolt in the vacuum line)

Summit RPM switch

i'm pretty sure that's all you need.
