If its possible to swap in the DE-K, I'd like to see a 3.5 in a 3rd gen.

that was the oringnal plan but it was hard to get one back then and also i knew it would be even harder to install

diiesel21 Jan 1, 2006 12:26 PM

who knows i might still do it

Kevlo911 Jan 1, 2006 12:36 PM

Show me pics of the engine mounts.

If it is the real swap-in, then diiesel21 is worthy of recognition for an execution of an innovative concept. Too bad those 3rd gen bodies aren't that much lighter than 4th.

Gotta send props to Nismo3112 and Tilley for making the same technological leaps in the 4th gen body!

basically we used one third gen tranny mount and one fourth gen tranny mount we still are using that lL shapped bracket that holds the tranny and engine togetheir
also the engine mounts from the forth gen was used with a forth gen crossmember so that how it sitting

Actually 3rd gens have always been heavier than 4th gens. Curb weight is around 3150 vs 2900-3000 for 4th gens.

Congrats for the swap. Now somebody do it with a 3.5.

thats cool... howd you learn how to do so much at the age of 20??? is your dad a mechanic for like nascar?

nismology Jan 5, 2006 04:34 AM

He actually worked on his car and learned by trial and error like i did instead of asking a million questions on the org only to take it to a mechanic in the end?:gotme:

trial and error is the best way to learn...but the .org has taught me very much about cars in general, i couldnt have done any of the stuff i've done to my car without it. People need to learn how to listen instead of asking questions, because odds are, their questions have been asked before.

While what you're saying is true, you missed my point. My point is people should work on their car themselves instead of taking it to the shop for every little thing.
