Need some info

Dynoed my car this past weekend and found out that my max is running extremely rich. Any ideas why? Mods aren't too crazy (y-pipe, exhaust, intake). Autotragic got 169.6 Max Power, and 181.7 Max Torque. A/F got as low as 10:1 never saw anything above 12.5:1 after 3400rpms. The line was all over the place. Now i'm a little apprehensive about driving hard. Read something about burning valves??? Is there any way to lean it out with anything other than an Apexi S-AFC? Was doing a little research but figured I'd see what others did. I'm not concerned with the hook up procedures as I am good with wiring and have already read the write up, just wondering if there is any other products that aren't as well advertised. Thanks.

cheapest thing you're gonna find is the safc..

do you have a graph you can post?

Just posted a dyno graph on page 1 of my cardomain site. Just did a quick scan so I didn't have time to size it.

Your car is very rich, you have nothing to worry about. What you need to worry about is going lean, which you aren't even close to. Floor it all you want.

If it is rich at all rpm, an adjustable fpr will fix you for the most part. You need to find out why you are so rich though, and not just band-aid it.

I wish I knew why it was so rich, it's definitely robbing some power. I never thought of the fpr, that would work since it's consistently rich across the rpm range. There was a Spec-V at the dyno run that had 11:1, 10:1 A/F ratio as well. I would assume that the stock ecu's don't accomodate well enough when you add power mod's, would a technosquare or JWT ecu be a better fix than an fpr or S-AFC? It definitely wouldn't be the cheaper route to go. Sometimes I wish we could just power program like the domestic's.

just because you get a JWT doesnt mean your AFR wont be off.. They use the same program for every car so theres no guarantee.. only thing you would benefit is from teh timing advance and the higher rev limiter... JWT runs lean as fark so you might be within N/A AFR range...

Honestly, if I were you.... I'd wait for the update for the EU to read off our crank sensors... Were so close... Than spending $600 on something you CANT change.... Just my $0.02....

I got the VAFC-II, works good for now.. You can always sell it on ebay.. They sell like hotcakes.

I'll probably go that route. A buddy of mine is getting emanage so I might be able to get his afc fairly cheap. Did you tune the afc yourself or did you have the dyno shop do it? I'm trying to decide on paying the tune fee at the shop or getting a wideband and doing it myself. Of course you have the pros and cons, like speeding tickets. Anyways, thanks to all for the inputs.

Yes, get the VAFC-II or the SAFC-II and dial it in at 13.5:1.

And if you ever need any help or suggestions for mods feel free to stop by the shop on a Saturday. www.p1auto.com

I tuned it myself on the dyno, only took 3 runs to get it to 13.5:1 on the sniffer... $40 for 3 runs + A/F = great deal down here..

You can find my dyno sheet in the dyno discussion forums to check out the perfectly straight 13.5:1 AFR... Maybe I got lucky..
