Should I get a VAFC2?

I may have an opportunity to snag a VAFC2 for a decent price. I recently put in a DE-K, which of course is running on my '95 (auto) ECU. My only other performance mods are a ghetto (but effective) intake and a Cattman Y-pipe. Could I see significant gains in fuel economy and/or performance if I tuned with a VAFC2? Performance would be nice, but fuel economy gains would go much farther toward justifying the purchase because I drive my car enough that it the gains might actually pay for themselves in a reasonable amount of time.

Opinions?

It might. I bet there's some hp to be had. The problem is you have no way of telling where you need to alter your a/f. You also need a data logger of some sort or a dyno session.

Can the SAFC2 read a/f well enough?

They say fuel economy won't be increased....only becuz the VAFC modifies open loop driving...not closed loop...however, performance gains would be beneficial (i.e. WOT)....

Yeah, I would definitely be making a trip out to a dyno for tuning if I got this thing.

An SAFC2 would work just fine. The two reasons I would choose a VAFC2 are the larger number of adjustment points and the ability to control the VIAS, which would mean I could sell my RPM switch and recover at least some of the expense.

This is from a private sale. If the prospect of fuel economy gain is not too good (i.e. I wouldn't buy it), and if it hasn't already been sold, I can see about referring the seller to you.

Should be getting my inspection done tomorrow, which will involve a tailpipe sniffer. I'll see if I can check out my A/F then.

the question about fuel economy has been answered in this thread. if you drive around like you're racing all the time, you should see improved economy, but it will still be bad. but if you drive around like a sane person normally, i doubt you'll see any change. at any rate, please pm me if it's available. thanks.
