00vi parts advice?

i'm trying to do the 00vi with buying as little parts as possible. which means i'm using as much of the parts already on my 4th gen as i can practicallly. I already have the 00vi upper IM(well its being shipped to me). I will not be installing the LIM.
so what exactly do i need. a bracket for the throttle body and..egr tube? can a regular piece of coolant hose be used? i have some left over from my tranny cooler install.

it sounds like this thing basically bolts on but everyone gives the impression that this is a very difficult install.

so do all vacuum lines and tubes have a corresponding connection on the 00vi as they did on the USIM or what.

just wnat to get this all straight before i tackle it, thanks. and sorry for another 00vi thread.

Thanks.
So if I could get some clarification, I've already read the stickies.
And I've seen a write up. I realize the best way to learn is to experience but this is the biggest thing I've done and I really don't want to get halfway into it and realize that I need a bracket.

Some one correct me if I'm wrong:

You'll need to use the 5th gen TB or get an adapter plate for your 4th gen to the 00vi.

If you get the 5th gen TB you'll need to fab up a piece to cover the bottom of the TB. Like below.

eh i think i'll just buy the adaptor plate and use what i got that way i dont have to deal with any swapping confusion.
so it sounds like thats all i need i guess? the rest is just retrofitting?

my concern is , once i grind down the coil bosses will i be able to go back to USIM without a problem? im still not exactly sure how that grinding effects things like coil height and stuff.

the 5th gen coils are shorter which is why you'll have to grind down, after you do that if you want to go back to the usim you'll have to buy another one. The 4th gen coils would be too tall after the bosses have been grinded down.

If you think you’d want to go back for some reason (which I don’t know why you’d want to) then you should probably get the 5th gen rear cover.

Not exactly...

When you grind the coil bosses don't grind the whole thing down. There are two "bosses" per coil where they bolt in. You only grind the front ones on #3 and 5 cylinders, and you don't need to grind the whole thing either, just cut the front half of it down. Then you also need to cut off a little bit at the end of the coil (roughly the same amount). The coils stay in exactly the same position, so you can always go back to the USIM easily. The only thing that changes is that you gain clearance underneath the 00VI. There has been pics posted of this before...

Here is one. Notice how they're not cut completely off, just back and down to about the center of the bolt holes.

A dremel will work.. or you can take a hacksaw and make 2 cuts, one horizontal and one vertical and then finish up with a dremel or hand file or whatever. You can even use an angle grinder or die grinder if you have one. There's lots of ways to do it.
