My installer pretty much abandoned the idea of installing the V-AFC II on my 2004 Maxima. They stated it wouldn't work because it's only compatible with hot wire vehicles and not MAF sensor vehicles like mine. Can anyone point me to a write up on how to set it up?

Slap him for 2 reasons.

1. Maxima MAF's have a hot wire element.

2. The V-AFC II was made primarily for honda's with VTEC and they use absolute manifold pressure sensors, not hot-wire type MAF's to determine the airflow.

He did mention something to that effect so I may not be quoting verbatum. Again, is there a write up to get it to work or no?

The wiring is the same for any other A34...But the template on how to be smarter than the VAFC and take advantage of it can be found here...

Ok, I read the posts and forwarded the information to the shop. There's information about several different Gens in those forums, nothing real specific to the 6th Gen. I'm thinking with the wiring diagram that Glude posted along with the extra info from these threads it should be enough. Let's see what happens tomorrow. They still have my car.

BTW,
I've seen this shop's work, you would believe what they say also if you did.

My 'shop' has done a lot of credible work too, but still don't know squat about either of my Maximas.

This S-AFC II install must be kickin' their a$$!!! 2 full days with the car and they're still having problems. The latest they tell me is that the S-AFC is wired up correctly but the car is still running extremely rich and will not idle. When the SES light does come on it throws an error code that the engine it misfiring. They've already replaced 3 spark plugs.

Any insite on this?
