My mechanic is also a friend of mine, so he gave me a special price of $600 and only took him 5 1/2 hrs to complete. Some places charge $1000 or more just for the labor.

If you don't want a CEL you will have to change to a 5spd ECU. If you are your vehicle licensing department/inspection station don't mind the CEL, stick with an auto ECU.

I ment $3500.00, but thats parts included. Maybe I would be better off coming up with the major parts myself? 3500 just seems steep, thats all.

the auto ecu won't effect anything, you'lll just have the CEL on all the time.

If you wanted to change the ecu, you would have to bring it to the dealership and have the keys reprogrammed.

I'm under the impression that you only need to be changing the driver's side axle if you're changing from an open differential to VLSD tranny, that auto to MT shouldn't need that axle changed (unless you're putting in a VLSD MT.
Could be wrong about that, but surprised that none of the "maxi-experienced" guys on the org have piped in on that one, just several guys repeating what I think is bad info.

That is correct, I confirm it yesterday when I change the left axle. The auto is axle 3/4 or less, longer than the manual axle.
