Scan Tools, whats everyone using?

I'm going to be in the market for a scan tool. To moniter things on a couple diffrent cars, mainly a couple of nissan's including my 98 max, a 96 200sx. Most likely 2 WRX's and a EVO to say the least. Right now me and my buddies have put aside 160$ total but we can add in more money if needed since we dont know how much most of these scantools cost.

Basiclly looking for datalogging, freeze frame data, and all the other goodies. ign timing. o2 voltages, fuel trims and obviously CEL related items as well. From what i understand we need it to be CAN aviable due to the newer cars such as the WRX and EVO.

Looking for either a Window's OS based system or a handheld unit. will consider others like a PALM unit and etc.

I was looking at this unit. http://www.obdscan.net/obdscan+can.html
looks like all the stuff i need but wondering if its the best bang for the buck.

I'm using OBDscantech Nissan and the serial consult cable. It's Nissan specific as far as the software so really no help for what you're looking for,

On my A33B ecu, the samplimg rate on that unit is no faster than regular OBD-II (~0.25 sec/sample). I could not get it to sample from my A32 ecu at all.

From a data sampling pov, the Cipher unit is much better.
