Stupid question about VIAS

So just got my 00vi upper intake manifold(for free yey!) and i was wondering, I wanna keep the vias always on so isnt there a way to take it out? instead of having a crossover and needing a switch or what not, i wanna keep it simple. anyone ever did that? i tried searching the forum but i haven't found anything.

Take out the power valve. Start by removing the VIAS box to the right of the manifold and take off the cap on the left side of the manifold - remove the power valve and spring.

You then disable the VIAS and keep "VIAS always on"

It's a kick **** high-end!

He's right, in this way you might actually pick up a few HP on the top end as the valve itself is no longer creating a restriction, but this isn't a proven thing by anything other than someone's butt dyno.

You will, however, lose a ton of low end. You know this, right?

yeah i really dont care about low end torque. I already took out all the vias box on the right as well as the spring. theres the kinda shaft-like thing inside the IM that i can turn with my hand, isnt there a way to remove that?

It's capped a "tie-wrap." A skinny thingy made out of plastic.

Yes, it was already stated above. Take the metal cap off the other end of the manifold and the shaft comes out that way.

Not quite the same effect as removing the power rod, Curt

It's just an open hole? It's a wonder your car even runs, that would be a MAJOR vacuum leak!

Thats about equal to my s13's torn throttle body boot. (donno what its called exactly) but its torn 3/4 of the way around the segmented section, thats just before the TB. It runs perfect but lean. But I refuse to fix it because Im addicted to the 30-33mpg I get on the highway!
