00VI EGR Problems

I finally decided to put my 5th gen EGR tube on today...and now the upper manifold won't seal with the lower manifold. It's very, very close. I was told I need to bend the EGR tube towards the firewall a bit to make it sit right, but I absolutely cannot bend this thing, nor do I see how it is the cause for problems. If I can't get this problem fixed in the next hour, I'm putting my block-off plates back on...It's not worth this absolute nightmare of a problem.

the EGR will not fit without bending it(dont know why but it wont). Just take your tire iron and shove it down the pipe and pull towards you.

Pull it TOWARDS me? I was told to bend it towards the firewall Either way, block-off plates are back on so maybe I'll put it back on next weekend.

For now, I'm hitting up the track tonight

Mine was ALMOST perfect. Just enough so that there was maybe a 0.5mm gap between the upper and lower, and only on the back, the front touched fine.

Oh well, maybe next weekend. Car ran pretty well at the drag strip last night once I remembered to change my RPM switch settings back to their correct digits (try a 0.6 difference in the 1/4 mile )

What you have to do is keep the bolts on the 5th gen egr loose enough that you can move it. Put the UIM on and than carfully hit the egr until its lined up plumb. Once lined up plumb than tighten the lower bolts.

I tried that...I left it VERY loose. Still wouldn't line up

15.5 @ 90. Pitiful, pitiful track. I'm not going to make excuses for my driving ability (I've hardly driven my car the track ever) but that track is absolutely pitiful. Not-so-great elevation, slightly uphill (not kidding), etc. etc. Most definitely not a track to gauge yourself against people from other tracks.

That was with no weight reduction, manually shifting, no DR mod of any kind, nothing. Just my car with me manually shifting.
