flywheel timing ring question

hey...when i was pulling off my tranny, shaking and prying it....apparently i pryed on the timing ring gear once....and it bent like 3 teeth...i tapped the teeth straight. but realized one of the teeth was missing. soooo question is, do you believe this will **** with the cps if it is missing 1 tooth? i'd rather not buy a new ring gear. but if i have to i guess i will.

The timing ring/flywheel is sold as an assembly. You can't get it seperately. Used flywheels are pretty cheap. But as for the missing tooth, I'd get that resolved. I've never driven a maxima with a tooth missing from the timing ring, but I would imagine there'd be a slight cyclic stumble every time the ECU doesn't see that 1* signal.

Put it under your pillow and the tooth fairy will fix it like new.

The auto is different, they have basically the same ring attached to the flex plate but doesn't attach the same way as the manual and not interchangeable.

anyone remember HOOOPER's 6spd swap? didnt start for months because of a tiny nick in the timing ring (ring was perfect otherwise), i would think it would be worse if an entire tooth was missing.

Edit: do you mean the timing ring or the starter ring? cause i think it would be ok missing one starter ring tooth
