Differences between 04 and 02?....

My friend has a 04 alty wich I believe is basically the same setup as the max.

It appears that he only has 2 O2 sensors and we know my 02 has 4.

I know that the 2 rear 02 sensors are for cat efficiency and don't controll A/F and stuff like that. (by the way with my 02 sims I still have slow responce codes)

The question is, Can I install a 04 alty or 6th gen computer to eliminate the other 2 O2 sensors? Does the fact they have EGR have anything to do with it? What issues would this cause or would it be a better idea than using O2 sims?

Any info or ideas would be much appreciated.

I wouldn't advise a 6th gen. I have done a lot of research with the compatibility and changes necessary for 4th gen ECU -> 5.5 gen ECU and 4th gen ECU -> 6th gen ECU and realized that the differences are enough between the two are enough to provide more headaches then it is worth. I would stick to sims. I do not know about 04 Alty.

Swapping ECU's over o2 sensors is just crazy talk. Not worth the trouble.

Where did you get your O2 sim from?

I have been running an o2 sim in place of one of the two rear sensors (03 maxima ecu) for about a year and a half without any codes.

Ya, I figured there would be other differences than just the 02's. I think the fuel systems are different also. The Alty was different when I installed his nitrous than my car was

It just appears that I can install headers on his car without the trouble of using 02 sims like I had to.

I guess I was just hoping that it would be a direct swap.

Thanks for input
