VIAS Rod Removal

Hey guys,

I have taken out the VIAS rod for my 00vi. Has anyone else done this? I searched around and could only really find stuff about removing the power rod in 3.5's.

Are any gains made from removing it? My top end feels a tad stronger, but that could just be me. As far as my 00vi, I had jbwelded the cup, and it felt as though everything was functioning properly before I removed the rod.

It does seem to add some top end at the expense of some midrange. I have a couple of dynos proving that.

Considering the A33's weight, and performance of a functioning 00VI, I would leave it as is.

W/o an extended rev limiter, it's probably not worth it in the long run.

Although, a properly tuned rodless 00VI DEK/DE could show some potential.

Once my stuff sells I'll be tuning, but it won't be on a dyno

I guess I'll report back.

EDIT: Sorry didn't see that: No it does not bog at all. I have decent power (low-mid range has only suffered a little if at all) and it pulls to redline.

Current mods are: 3" intake, junk headers, ypipe, stock cat, catback, and removed power rod.
