MEVI question

I recently brought a 98 max as a second car, from a former org member. Everything works fine except for the MEVI. For some reason. the switch is acting if it's not getting an rpm signal. Ive tried getting th signal from both the ECU and #6 coil. Ive also tried both a summit racing rpm switch, and MSD rpm switch, both with the same results. Any ideas?

How did you wire the summit? What switch came on it? More details please.

Well, the car was stolen from the previous owner, and everything was stripped out of it. The previous switch was a harlan switch. But i was told they no longer make them. On the summit i have:
red-12V acc
black- ground
white- tach #6 coil
and wiring coming from the VI + side hooked to 12v, gound side hooked to the yellow wire on the rpm switch

With the Summit, you must tap into the white/green ECU tach wire, it will not read from the soil pack. Also, if you do not 'tune' it using the small screw on the circuit board, your reading will be about 2000 - 3000 RPM's off from what you set the dip switches to, so you will need to play with the settings. 3000 worked for me IIRC.
