3.5 swap cps question

I've done a lot of research on the cps problems with the 3.5 swap. People are saying that you just shave a 1/4 in but im not sure whats getting shaved(any info would help). Also somebody said they used the 3.5 cps spliced into the 3.0 harness, would you have to use the 3.5 flywheel for this and does it still involve shaving a 1/4in?

3.0 oil pan + 3.0 sensor = good to go.
3.5 oil pan + 3.0 sensor = the sensor sits too far away from the timing ring. Remove material as needed to get it close enough to read properly.
3.5 oil pan + 3.5 sensor = good to go.

The 3.5 flywheel will not be used.

Nismology- this is kind of topic for the thread, but right now I'm installing the timing components (using stephen max's adapters). Anyway in tavarish's write up, he shows a picture of his adapter plates and the dowel pins are not at the top, they're sideways. Then when he goes to put on the cam gears, they are at the top. My adapters are the same way, there side ways right now, so if i turn the cams to make them vertical won't the motor not be at tdc anymore? I'm just asking because the only way to make the marks on the chain line up with the marks on the cam gears is to have the dowel pins at the top.

Dont look at the dowel pins, just make sure all the colored links are on their corresponding positions relative to the marked spot on the cam gear.

The position on the dowel pin has to be faced up for the links to be matched with the sprockets, unless you try counting teeth on chain and sprockets.

04 Nissan maxima 3.5L

I bought my maxima for cheap and was told the transmission needs a valve body and the timing chain was bad. Replaced timing chain and is the exact same . Who ever worked on it before me could of messed up a wet dream . It has the p0300 code. I changed all injectors coils plugs both cam shaft sensors. Went to do the crank shafts sensor today and where it goes into the bell housing the crank sensor is loose in the hole. My guess is this is the problem. Is they're a way to tell if they did a tranny swap from another Nissan an had to drill out the hole . About how far away from the fly wheel should the sensor sit ? Looks to me like it's missing a little metal a cover over the fly wheel also . Any help would be appreciated. This is after i replaced the sensor . The one that was in it has an angle where it plugs in. This one is straight that i replaced it with.
