cant get rear timing cover off

Talking cant get rear timing cover off

I dont know why but I cant get the rear timing cover off or the waterpump are there any bolt in the oil pan like on the front cover is there any easy to miss bolts that I could be missing thanks for the input

For the water pump, all you need to take out are the three bolts. Have you tried jacking it out with the appropriate bolts yet?

Check the diagram, make sure you didn't miss any bolts:


FWIW sometimes the rear cover can be a bit stuck in place, the factory RTV can be a very good adhesive. Tried a rubber mallet yet?

what do you mean by jacking it out I removed all the bolts but couldnt get it to come out thanks alot

Happy 4444, just gave you the answer if you want to remove the back timing cover, there is few bolts to remove from the upper oil pan. I what you want is to remove the water pump pmohr just gave you the answer, 3 bolts.

I mean removing the pump the same way you would if you were doing a water pump job with the engine in the car.

You need two M8x1.25 bolts to push the pump out. On the VQ35, you can use the two left side guide bolts, but pretty much any 12mm head bolt will work.

got everYthing taken care of btw the crank sprocket was a bi%ch to get off if anyone is considering using the 3.0 oil pans I would take the upper oil pan off last I used it to pry on to get the sproket off

Always be careful with the 3 bolts hidden in the oil pan.

careful with that sprocket...you dont want that little part on the crank to chip off/break off..
