Tomei Cams on Sale

If you guys check out tomei website, the new MSRP for VQ35 cams is 880 bucks.

http://www.tomeiusa.com/recentmail.asp?mid=514

Lots of options to choose from. I debated the deluboz ones but then decided on Brian Crower Stage 2. This made me rethink and I'm gonna order the Tomei ones.

Here's a dyno of my boys G35 before and after longtube headers and tomei cams.

The car has nitrous but this was his best N/A runs. The shop just named it that way. His best on nitrous was 379/380

you also get a couple options for lift to choose from. Could anyone explain to me how to calculate overlap?

I'm thinking the 272s with 11.3mm int 11mm exh lift.

Probebly their own lol.... the fair off a lil better up top IIRC

As good as that graph look ur boy technically lossed low end whp n TQ... he headers in itself should've gained all across the board but it didn't, the cams lossed low end but the headers brought it to equal but look at them top end power

Stock with a 1/2 inch spacer and ported lower. He will be adding gears and an aluminum driveshaft next. My Z used to be neck and neck with his car and I'd pull away up top. Im sure he's going to walk me badddd now.

Either using a degree wheel or request a cam card from Tomei which they may or may not not make available to the public.

The MSRP went from 1180 to 880.

Link from first post.

Im wondering if any vendors are selling them under MSRP, as this is usually a advertised price. Like with Haltech's and such, you can get them new from vendors much cheaper then msrp

DAM...272!!! WOW! Wont that idle really nasty? Low end might be total garbage after that? I think with anything over 11mm lift you will need new valve springs too. I was considering the JWT S1 cams they are like 260 10.87mm. They actually did a cam test on a 350z in modified magazine. They dyno tested Stock cams 238(In)/240(Ex)/9.57mm, Tomei 264/10.5mm, JWT S1 cams, and the Nismo Rtune cams 262/10.82mm. Actually from the dynos the JWT S1 cam gained 19hp and 13ft-lbs. peak over the stock cams. The JWT S1 cams did not lose ANY low end torque and had a nice gain up top too! Actually low end torque increased! The JWT S1 cams made the flattest torque curve. What I found really nice was that the JWT cams gained torque and horsepower through the ENTIRE rpm band and did not lose any power over stock anywhere.

Here's the article if anyone want to check it out:

http://www.modified.com/tech/modp-10.../photo_18.html

Only thing negative about cams is the labor for install....I heard it was somewhere like $1000-$1200 + cost of the cams. BUT I think with the Haltech being able to control some cam timing you would probably pick up even more low and mid range torque.....hmm......

EDIT: Figured I'd post the dyno chart of the cam test done as well.....

STOCK = Green (hp) Blue (Tq)
NISMO = Purple
Tomei = Red
JWT = Yellow

x2 I ripped mine out to re-seal the timing cover.. I didn't want to spend a G or more on cams at the time.

Why? The S1 is the smallest cam JWT has so low end isent hurt that bad. the cams in that test are just the ones after stock.

lol now im wanting to put cams in already!

With the IVT and EVT, possibly i could get an aggressive cam, and keep some low end too. Gonna have to wait tho, stock FWD cams for me ... for now

a crazy cam lope is nothing to me if the car aint making power... the S1's are plenty enough for a car that would make no more than 300whp.... dont need anything else for a daily

one of the most popular 350z cams are the gtmotorsports cams.

http://www.gtmotorsports.com/product...cat=264&page=1

they have a greater intake duration than the exhaust.

what do you guys think about mating the tomei 272 intakes with 264 exhaust cams?

Ive used this a few times in the past to compare JWT's to other cams out there specifically our BC2's.
