New Car with EGR Valve Problem

Ok so here's the story. A week ago I bought a 95 Maxima 3.0 5-speed, Dark blue with no rust for $950.00. I'm told when buying the car it has a bad EGR valve solenoid or the valve itself.. The car refuses to idle when cold. When it warms up it idles but very rough and sometimes dies. Runs fine when moving accept the occasional miss. Also dies under hard braking. So I look up the valve in the manual. I go to the junkyard and find the same one as in the book on a parts car. I get home and look at mine and notice its nothing like it. It appears to be electronic and has a wiring harness coming out of it that connects to nothing. I believe the engine has been replaced with one out of a newer maxima. So my question is can I just replace the electronic one with the mechanical one from the older motor? They appear to mount the same. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you Bill.B

Egr valve in our cars is activated by vacuum.
You must of got a newer 97-99 egr valve.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking is the the motor in my car is a 97-99 cuz its definitely electronic. The book says it should look like this and it doesn't.
And the one on my motor is mounted in the same spot but looks completely different. Its cylinder shaped and black with a harness coming out. I'm wondering if I can replace it with the one I've pictured.

Ok thats good to know. So obviously someone put the wrong engine into this car. Is there anything I can do? Is there any info out there about swapping a 99 engine into a 95?

They are the same engine.
Just head back to the junk hard and return the older style egr and pick up a new one.

Also check your specs with t pins n multi meter to vefiry if your getting the right reading.

You if havent check your positive crank case ventilation be a goos idea.
These tend to bong the engine down if no air is circulated.
Located in the rear valve cover. Its the tube coming in between the plentum going to the throttle assembly.
Use a needle or something to remove all the sludge.
Its called 'intake manifold collector. Look it up

My engine has the newer one on it but when they swapped the engine they kept the old wiring harness so it has no place to connect too. I'll post pictures of the connector and valve tomorrow.
