removing the factory radio is a pain.

Someone tell me this... what kind of tool does Nissan use to screw in the D*MN radio to the brackets?!? I don't understand how they can screw them in so tight without stripping something. Does everyone have the same problem? I had to basically lie the radio down on the ground, press down with ALL my weight and turn... hoping that I didn't strip the screw in the process. Did most of you get them out ok or did most of you strip them? This part by far was the hardest part of my install.

I had the same problem just a couple of nights ago. I solved the problem by using a Makita drill with a good phillips head on it. I think the torque from the drill made the job much easier.

Even after going over to my pops' place and using his power drill, I stripped 4 of them enough to where I just drilled 'em out. Mmm...I wonder if a pile of metal shavings + one loose thread inside a bose deck make it sound better...

You hit the nail on the head. I'll never understand why they did that. If you strip, or begin to strip the screw, get a dremel tool and file a notch into the screw to match the current slot pattern. This will allow you to put a larger screw driver in the slot, allowing for better leverage.

Of course I only figured this out after I had to drill out the first screw I fried!! (Murphy's Law)

all you need is a Phillips #2 head screw driver and a hammer. Place the screwdriver in the screw and tap(kinda hard) the head of the handle a few times to help break loose the screws. NO DRILLING OUT required that way
...and yes i do this every time a car comes into my shop and has stubborn screws that wont come out.

Oh dude! I so understand what you went through. What I did was use a good-quality screwdriver and use a pair of vice grips on the screwdriver handle to act as a wrench. I just put all my weight down on top of the screwdriver (palm of my hand underneath my chest) and then used the vice grips to turn and it was easy!!! Too bad I spent 15 minutes trying a whole bunch of other stuff first!!!
