Worth extra $100 bucks??

I'm looking for some good brands for speakers with quality w/o having to thin my wallet. With many searches and hearing opinions about it, the most bang for buck speakers came out to be Infinity kappa speakers.

My roomate has the kappa components and sounded pretty good. However, I think it lacks some clarity, somewhat.. But sounded pretty darn good.

I got two choices. Either I go with Inifinity Kappa comps with Inifinity coaxs for rear which will cost me around $270ish

or

go with high quality Focal 165v comps with focal 165hc coaxs. This will cost me close to $380~400.. But, I have never heard the focals before.. But I do know this is high quality speakers.

Is it worth the extra 100bucks to get focal system? Keeping in mind I will be pumpin these guys up with cadence z4000 amp (75w x 4).

OR, get the Focal comps, but get Inifinity kappa coaxs and save 50bucks, but I don't know how this mix and match will sound like.. I will have a 12" sub so I'm guessing my rear speakers will not be that important.

go listen to them at a store (prefarably on similar amps) and let your ears be the judge, dont listen to people around here

lol : D

Hows the mix and match idea?

Oh yea, btw, this has nothing to do with this thread, but just wondering.
Since the bose speakers are self amped with 1ohms, will it work with aftermarket HU that doesn't have amp in them? Like alpine 7995 which requires a amp.. All I know so far is that aftermarket HU works with 4ohm speakers, but just wondering.

hmmm,
stock bose with bose amps to a alpine 7995. by the sounds of it, it should work, infact it seems like a really good idea for someone on a budget or looking to slowly build a system, or if they are happy with theyre speakers but would like a better Head Unit.

however with mine, the amps took the signal from a set of wires (2 wires for signal). if the deck has wire outputs (along with RCA) then that will save you time and money, but if it doesnt, you will then need to wire the speakers to the rca cables. you could go to radio shack and buy some rca male ends and just tap the stock wires in to those and plug them in.

as long as the bose amps will work on the alpine it should work, but im not sure if the deck does anything to the signal to the RCA or if it would if it does have normal wire connections (normally a high pass).

im sure someone can patch this up. as for me, the next few days is going to mod my Computer Case. (hehehehehe ill post some pics when im done.)

yea, I just thought about this, and if it is possible to use bose speakers with 7995, this will definately be a good choice to me(and those that are looking to upgrade their speakers later when ready..)

3rd that on listening yourself...speakers can't be a choice of someone else..you may listen to them and like neither...audition what you like and if can be found cheaper online..then by all means..got to know what sound you want first

Yeah you can listen for yourself but if you want to save that money go with the Infinity's doubt there will be 100 difference in the SQ most of the time you are buying the name not the product.

I'd say go with the focals up front and save the 'extra $100' by skipping rear fill if you've got a decent sub. Or at most, go with the infinity coaxs in the rear. But take a listen at a local store if you can.

Yea, I should. Gotta find a focal dealer or something.

By the way, how does swaping bose HU for alpine 7995 idea? sounds doable right?

I've got some Infinity Kappa 6.5 2way coaxials, and they sound pretty good.
