I was wondering. I want to change my BOSE headunit in my Maxima and heard rumors that if I change my headunit I need to change the speakers as well because for the Premium Sound Package, Nissan had the speakers amped or something to that effect. Is this true?

I am looking to change the headunit only. I have the Bose Premium Sound Package.

Thanks for any help.

Does this mean that if I change my headunit without changing the speakers, my new headunit will not work with the BOSE speakers?

it will probably work...but it will also mess up your head unit so its not worth it,you should just get new speakers to save urself future problems moneywise

it will still work......

but there will be a loud annoying hiss always coming out of the speakers... also the extra power would probably kill the bose speakers ina few months

Actually, there is an adapter you can get from http://www.discountcarstereo.com so that you can use the bose speakers.

Get adapter or....

I want to change my h/u and i know about the adapter, they also have it at crutchfield. But i heard that some eclipse h/u have no internal amp. does that mean that you could hook one of those up to the bose speakers no problem because they are self-amped

No matter what, I think in the long run you're going to have to change speakers because the bose speakers are really bad. However, the adapter will work for the time being. And I haven't heard of any eclipse h.u that have no power. I think they all come with 8V preout if i'm not mistaken. But that's for the 55040 models and up.
