Double-DIN H/U question

What is a good double-DIN these days? I had a Clarion ADX 5655z and it was happy with it until it was stolen . Clarion was sticking out a bit, and did not have any security features, but I loved the display.

Personally, I like the looks of the kenwood and would probably recommend it over the clarion in terms of quality. I know Pio used to make some good double-DIN decks, at like, around $800-1000.

Roger - possibly a higher-end navigation-style unit or something. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill - you'd probably be looking at quite a bit of dough if you ever found something that matched all those features. I know the 6.5" alpine mobile multimedia products are DVD/xm ready, but not even the $1800 model says anything about mp3 support.

I have like 2 weeks to decide on the H/U replacement. There's one top-line double-DIN which has everything but DVD, is a Pioneer FHP-8800, can be bought online for $600-900.

With double-DIN H/U, you don't always pay more $ for the same features +tape player, but you loose any security features. A Pioneer FHP-4000 is a good unit that reads MP3s, but I get different opinions on its appearance..What do you guys think?

I love the brushed alum/cool blue look of the FH-P8800. It's quite refreshing compared to the display on pio's line of single-DIN premier decks. That kenwood unit I cited above has MP3 support, for $449. But I'm sure there's some feature croppage to go with that big price gap in comparison to the pio. (And the kenwood has a tape deck, not very stylish imo). It also has a brushed/cool blue appearance though.

Eclipse is not on the satellite band wagon yet. Maybe next year. You just have to buy a seperate DVD player or hook up your xbox/ps2.
This retails for about 2G's.....only one I've seen on the market.

I will be installing one of these very soon...
