All you audio/video equipment sellers.. i have a request.

Maximadave, Pearl96, any others I left off:

I have a request, Focal speakers all around on a 2k2 maxima se, a 4 channel amp to power them, an image dynamics IDQD4 12 or an infinity perfect 12 (i have a rf 400a2 that i can use to power that), an audio control MVC (master volume control) unit. I think that about covers it. I'd like a price on all that if you guys don't mind. I have a tweeters in my town for maximadave. Other than that, I guess that is it. Thanks guys. I jsut got my maxima today, I got it without the bose (knew i was replacing everything) SOOO.. I'm ready to get started on it.

Thanks guys.

For clarification what are you planning to use as your source? The headunit?

Hey Dave, this one is for you. Id rather he buys from your store, then ship out.

Replicant....this is to cover my *** more.I am not supposed to sell online most of the brands you named, so it might be better to deal with Dave on it.

If that doesnt work out, I have to tell you now, I dont deal wit ID, and Focal, Audio control, and Infinty dont give me the greatest prices.

Thanks Pearl!

I totally understand man. I'm just glad to konw that the .org members have resources like you and maximadave and others.

To clarify on the headunit part, I will have no headunit, I will have my PC. You see, I'm an avid carpc enthusiast. the MVC will be the primary audio controller though. But the PC itself is the source of the audio/video/gps And will be interfaced through my 7" widescreen lcd, IR remote control, and voice control.

I hope that clears that part up, I didn't really go into great detail in my first post. Anyway, we'll see what maximadave can dig up. I'm not stuck on those brands for sure though. I have just read here that the ID 12 sub is supposed to be unreal, and I have personally heard the perfect 12 and was thoroughly impressed. And as far as focal goes, I have also read here that they are great speakers.. unmatched even. Like I said, I'm open to suggestions. I just didn't want this thread to be another "what do you think I should get" thread.

Thanks again for the hookups to those that do have the resources for the .org members.

Okay, that explains the audio control MVC. I will have to look that one up. What's input and output voltage range? And does it work like a pre-amp, more than one input capability? Sorry, these questions don't apply to this thread.

No worries Jmax

I enjoy questions about this topic. Yes, it does have multiple inputs, well the MVC does, the output from the pc is merely a sound blaster live platinum. Digital and Analog outputs and inputs for audio. Some people have spent more on the sound card for true 48bit, but anyway, i have a simple system that allows me to have a huge amount of mp3s, dvd, music videos, movies of other formats, gps, voice control, eventually i will purchase a new lcd screen with touchscreen support. Even getting the software used on.. ahem.. the Fast and the Furious to monitor engine output/temps/NOS/turbo if you have those Anyway, the possibilities are limitless to a certain extent.

I look forward to more replies!

Hmm.. ok

Dave,

What are your best sounding speakers to fit the 2k2 maxima? And a good amp to power them. I found the Image Dynamics sub for 129 at carmedia1.com, so I may go with that. I think i'd look funny having fosgate amp and then an xtant or something sitting side by side in my trunk, so i MAY sell my fosgate and just get 2 of the same brand amp from you, of course depending on price. I really don't have a budget, well, I should say, i DO have a budget of around a 1000 - 1500 buckaroos. I figure I can fit in that pricepoint with your help. THen again, I haven't done a whole lot of price research for speakers and stuff in a long time, other than for that sub which i looked up this morning. I would also like to purchase a good 4 gauge wiring kit. I have an 8 gauge one now, but I want to do this car up right. Okie doke, I'm through

Thanks again to the .org members
I don't see how those ricers can diss you guys, I just wub all of you and I've only been a member for a month or so

Listen to the speakers first before you make up your mind. My defintion of a good speaker, and your defintion might have a different answer. Don't buy your Image Dynamics speaker on line. No warranty. Buy your gear from an authorized dealer.

Hmm.. Ok.. well .. looks like I"ll be making a trip to tweeter next week

Ok but I'd still like your opinion since you deal with those models speakers all day. I value your judgement due to that fact. I will listen on my own before blindly following your opinion. I just want to know what YOU think.

And thanks for the info on the ID sub. THats why on my old car I couldn't buy the Eclipse headunit online :/ had to pay for someone else to do it for me when I could've installed it. Oh well. Peace of mind though knowing I recieved the warranty.

Thanks again Dave,

Dave, I chose some speakers

Dave, I really like the boston acoustics for the components up front and for the speakers in the rear doors. I have a non bose 2k2 maxima, not sure of hte sizes needed. But i'd defintely like a price on them, and i guess a good enough amp to power them. I'm at your mercy with the amp, go ahead and price a matching brand amp for a 12" infinity perfect or a 12" ID q4 12" sub. As well as 4 gauge wiring kit ( i could prolly order that seperately if you think it'd be cheaper elsewhere ) I already have a distribution block. Possibly a 1f capacitor to go with everyhing? Also, do you recommend getting an aftermarket alarm? Honestly if I"m not there to hear the alarm going off, then whats gonna stop them from trying to keep getting in?
I'd like to hopefully go ahead and start ordering this stuff by the next 2 weeks or so. I'll see if anyone else here can get good deals on infinity or image dynamics products.

Anyway, thanks again for the help and suggestions.

P.S. I love that car, I'm so glad (so far) that I purchased a maxima.

this may sound funny, but if you want a good 4 gauge kit, buy the $24 kit from scosche at walmart. its cheap, and its good. youll only hvae to buy wire then. it comes with a battery terminal, and some other stuff...i havent seen anything close--even online.

Get the Monster Cable wire kit and rcas at Tweeter.

Look at the Boston Rally's, Pro's, and the new Z series seperates.

hey Rep...

Where are planning on getting the SVGA LCD? I've scoured the earth, including http://www.earthlcd.com

not easy or cheap I have an old HP with an 8" 800x600 TFT I could tear out.. but I'd like something cleaner.. I'd use
http://www.directron.com/ezgo.html
for the source..

PC GPS is pretty much unintelligible with regular 1440x224 TFTs. And I've found few apps that will go below 640. no mapping apps for sure.

TimW, I'm going to stick with my ntsc 7" lcd for now, but there is this:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...&threadid=9396

Your best bet is to just check around on www.mp3car.com forums. I also hang on EFNET on #mp3car.

Feel free to chat about carpc's with me, its one of me hobbies that i thoroughly enjoy. I can't wait to mod the maxima for performance and for a/v

Hiyah Dave

Dave,

I went again and listened to the Boston Acoustics Pro series (the 999.99$ models) THey sound awesome, but way out of my price range. The rest of the Boston's sounded real good too. I doubt your hookup could even put a small dent in the price tag on the pro's. So, I'm thinking I'd like to possibly do the boston acoustics component set, that was around 350 retail, matching brand/model for the rear doors, and then a 4 channel amp to power them, and then i still have the problem of which sub. I'd like to get your hookup on the sub and a sub amp as well, but I really really like how the Infinity Perfect sounds (haven't heard that ID4 12 yet) THe guy at Tweeter was pushing the w6v2 and the eclipse aluminum subs as well. I really kinda wanted your opinion. All in all, I think I'm about ready to actually start throwing down money for stuff, when ever you can work up a price for all the stuff that is needed. I'll prolly need a new bigger deep cycle battery (doubt I'll need a cap., but with the comptuer also being in the car, it may not be a bad idea)

Thnks again!

Pearl96, see what you can do on an Infinity Perfect 12

You guys rock!

hmm

Don or Dave:

I'm really about ready to start dropping dough on equipment. I guess, I really just wanted the best deal on some good stuff, doesn't have to be the best. I totally understand that you get what you pay for.

Don do you have a price list for stuff that you can get for good prices? Dave, same goes for you, do you have prices on Boston, JL, Xtant and Eclipse speakers and amps. I'm seriously getting ready to buy all the goods.

Thanks again guys for the hookups and the patients, and for the information.

No prob Rep, thats what we are here for. Except I just reply quicker than dave ( to Dave). Yes I have pricing for everything I sell. If you would like to just email either of us with the budget you have in mind Im sure we could put something together. Although with the budget, please list what sound you are actually going for.
