kenwood face plate woes, help!!!

Hi,

Just installed ny kenwood x659. It was working fine until I turned the car back on one time and the display was dead and 3 of the 4 blue buttons don't light up anymore. Everything else works , sound, button operation, etc. Wires and fuses appear alright. Any thoughts??? (Its a removable faceplate). Thanks!

Try re-attaching the faceplate. Kenwood headunits are known to have display problems. The contacts get dirty at times and need to be blown out. My Kenwood has these problems at times. All I do is remove the faceplates and clean out the contacts on both units. Works fine everytime!

Still Not Working... What did you use to clean the contacts? Thanks.

Actually, I just used compressed air. Maybe, look at the contacts and see if they happen to be bent, missing, etc. or anything that appears to be abnormal. Other than that, I have no clue what else may be going on. Maybe, it shorted out "inside" the faceplate somewhere? Is it still under warranty? You can return it back to an authorized Kenwood dealer and maybe get a replacement faceplate?
