W3s are very nice.

If you got the cash though, might want to go for the W7, which is one heck of a sub.

Yea. I have 2 12" W3s also, hence my above post. I doubt I'll ever get a W7. That's just too much for me!

I really like my setup though, and talk to Pearl96Max because he gives pretty good prices.

Well, it turns out that the W3s are now discontinued!

According to JL Audio's website, they now make the W3v2.

This is a bummer. Even though my stereo is brand new, I have outdated subs.

not to nitpick, but sq is not something that is the same to everyone...there are some that are regarded as 'better' in general, like a/d/s/ stuff. that doesnt make them better to everyone. thats why i dont like it when people say, "which sounds better..." cuz youll never get everyone to agree.

well, unfortunately, i came from the other side of this equipment discussion. i have only heard the 10 and 15 brahmas...ported 10's...and sealed and ported 15's. i thought they all sounded excellent, but have yet to hear a 'max. from my experience tho, dealing with adire is much easier than dealing with ID. ive not had good experiences in dealing with matt borgardt, and after dealing with dan wiggins, i doubt ill ever even consider anything ID (other than the horn drivers i just bought )

Apparently you were asking about JL's because thats what you want, and somehow these guys got off on Brahmas and stuff. It all depends on what kinda sound you're looking for. If you want loud, then go with one JL 13W7 in a ported box spec'd to JL's web page. If you want pure sound quality, and you still want JLs, I'd suggest something along the line of two JL 10W6s in a small sealed box. They'll sound great, and they'll still rock when you want them to. Another thing about the W7, be ready to spend some money on an amp cause you're gonna need 1000 watts of clean power minimum to run it. If money's no issue, I'd go with one JL 13W7 and JL audio 1000.1 on each voice coil in a ported box. Make sure the box is done properly by an experienced installer though because details like non-round port ends will cause distortion. It would suck to spend all that cash and still have a system that sounds average.

Also DYNAMAT!!!!!!!

I have to agree with dude. He was asking about JL's. No comparison of the other ones mentioned. Depending on your budget, depends on which JL to roll with. I have 2 15w6's . Granted the W7 are expensive, but they are expensive for a reason. You pay for quality.

My cousin has two of these...after a triple 10W0 box(now in my trunk), triple 10 box with the New Kappas, and two of the old 12W3s in the ported power wedge box. He is very happy with the new 12W3s....highly recomend them....

F*ck JL. I have always disliked them for some reason.
I'm a Kicker fan from way back. I'd take 2 CompVR's over 2 W3's anyday.
I just see so many ppl blowing JL subs and it annoys me.

When you meet someone who blows a 13W7, let me know. Until then I'll keep laughing a kicker. By the way, why the foul language?

this isnt quite blowing a w7, but it is relevant. my friend is an installer. he put 4 w7's in a guys truck, and started setting levels and stuff on the amp, and that little w7 logo thingy fell off within 15 seconds of firing them up...kinda disappointing for something that costs nearly a grand each.

If you are blowing your subs its either because you have something wired wrong or you are pushing them too hard....and I doubt either of those has anything to do with the subs...I'm not saying kicker doesn't make good products...I have 2 240s linked in my trunk...but any sub will blow if you try to make it do things it isn't designed to do, and if you want boom then you can't go wrong with JL, they are extremely loud and efficient subs...hard to beat the VRs for the dollars though...but you really want the L7....so many choices...so little trunk space...

I'm not referring to the W7 blowing. I havent been around it and dont know much about it. But for what it costs it should be a great sub. I'm talkin about w3's and w0's. I just see friends of mine blowing them or the surrounds ripping or deteriorating or whatever on teh W0's. Thats why i never will own one and i can't afford no w7.

Are they putting to much power to them? Since I deal with w6's or higher, I don't know what it means to blow a sub. A lot of sub blowers want to throw all the power in the world to subs that can't handle them. What a concept.

So because you deal with w6 or higher, means they are too high quality to blow?? Please enlighten me to this theory, as its not the quality of the speaker, but the distortion level it recieves that mainly blows speakers....

I'm not sure about the cosmetic flaws of the W7's but I know they'll handle just about all the power you can throw at em. That is if its clean power of course. Don't go hooking up a bunch of car batteries to em, and don't plug em into the wall or something like that. Of course they'll blow, but if you've got a good quality amp, you should be fine. I'm bout to go and put one 13W7 in place of my two 10's, and I'm probably gonna run JL 1000.1s on each voice coil. I don't know who put 4 W7s in a truck, but it seems kinda pointless. Thats like seeing these terds with 8 6X9's on their back decks. I'm like WTF? Anyways.....

What do you guys think of the new W6's with the removable trim ring? Anyone gotten any yet, and how do they sound?

well, here's the deal...hes a pro installer, and does what the customer wants. iirc, the owner is in the nba...just signed a contract and got his nice signing bonus. he ended up with a new escalade or expedition or something, and wanted 4 of the w7's. who is an installer or salesman to argue with a customer over what is/is not too much?

i agree tho...it is stupid
