Are these boxes only for one side of the trunk, do they make them for both the left and right side of the trunk? Correct me if i'm wrong, the JL stealth box mounted on the left side of the trunk

Yes, they're only on the left side of the trunk as you're looking into the trunk.

You know they're only made for 4th gens, right?

Yes, Left side only, and at the moment, only for the 95 - 99 Maxima. (It WON'T fit the new Max).

I'm sure JL Audio will make one for the New Maxima soon. I think the Maxima Stealthbox is one of their best selling models.

For a pic, click the link in my signature. I've posted a few other comments about the Stealthbox elsewhere, I won't repeat myself too much. Thanks

One more ?

It's obvious the exterior different, but how much different can the inner trunk design be between the 3rd 4th & 5th gen. Since I'm a family man and not interested in competition type sounds, the stealth looking more interesting. Damn, it gotta fit some how.

Although it would probably fit somehow, you just wouldn't get the full performance out of it... At best, you'd get it to work like a traditional speaker box. ALso, depending on where the tube down to the gas tank is on the new Max, it may not fit well at all.

Because it's slot loaded, it's using the internal dimensions of the 95 to 99 Max to seal off everything but the slot opening, which, when designed that way, and designed properly, enhances output. So, in any car other than the 95-99, just a small difference would eliminate the "slot loading"

Considering it's relatively high price, if you found a really solid installer with a good reputation, they might be able to come close to it's performance with a custom fiberglass enclosure of their own. Depending on the city you're in and the nature of the installers in your city, you may find more reasonable prices on custom work that you would expect.

jsmiam is correct. Consider building your own out of MDF and fiberglass. It would be less than $100 for all of the materials, plus the sub.
