what kind of budget you got, and what do you look for in a good source unit?

im VERY partial to eclipse and alpine source units...and im planning on getting an alpine cda-7998. most people dont have/want to spend that kind of dough on a cd player tho.

Funny, I plan to get the exact same unit. I can't afford it, nor the F1 status unit I rreeeeaaaaalllllllllllly want. I also like th eeclipse units but have never had one. I have had an alpine unit in the past and used it from about 1990 until 1999 without a single problem. I am currently using a sony ES deck and it has worked well for about 2 years.

My Pioneer Premiere p900 is ridiculous....

The only complaint I have is how delicate the face is and ****ing insanely expensive it is to replace it.

copycat

im running an eclipse 55430 right now, and despite the fact that i dont have the cage for it installed, it very rarely skips. so far, ive just been too lazy to pull the cd player out, and put the cage in there to support it.

I had a Kenwood Excelon X959 before, and I took it out for the Pioneer 900 DVD Nav System..actually not using Kenwood..would consider selling.
