help!!!!

Well i just installed my system...Sounded good for about an hour..I know i need a cap but..when i had the bass on all of a sudden my subs(Alpine type r) went off along with my amp(Rockford 700s) and my rear speakers...My fronts still play. My whole car is wired to amps.(PPI 60x4 and RF700s Punch) What happened please help. At first I thought it was the alternator but all my lights are going strong.

Sounds like a fuse or a loose wire.

check all your wires going to and from amp. Check your connection on the battery and if those are all fine, check the amp fuses. Are your fronts wired to the amps also?

Re: help!!!!

Wow that's weird. Are you sure your rears are off too? It doesn't sound like a fuse or loose wires because your fronts still play. Did you do the install yourself? If not take it back. Make sure everything is wired correctly because if it is your front speakers shouldn't be playing if your rears aren't. It's very unlikely that one of your amp and half of the other went out.

Each of my amps is fused, therefore the suggestion to check the fuses and wireing. Also, older PPI 4 channels were actually two 2 channel amps. So they may still be doing something similar to that if there are a pair of fuses on the side, it's possible that each fuse goes to a seperate operating amp. But a full review of the wiring is definitely in order.

Are the fronts running off their own amp? Or are they on the same 4 channel as the rears?

You amp has auto shut-off. When it gets to hot your amp will shut-off to avoid over heating. If you turn your gain down you will lose some power but your speakers will not cut off.

Or RCA's or nearly anything. Looking through the car it should be pretty easy to find.

Well Guys...I went through the wires and canged the fuse up front..I taped off the wires going through the firewall some more and i guess there was a whole in the side of the grommet. I used tape and adjusted the gain. Well it's been a few days w/o shutting off. Sounds amazing too. Thanks for everything.
