Upgrading Sub only...how?

Howdy everyone! I own a 2k2 SE (as if my name didn't tell you that already) and I'm gonna take off the rear 8" sub. What I was wondering was this: I want to upgrade JUST my sub (12" is my preference) I used to have a "Booming Accord" with 2 15W4's in the back and so I need more bass in my Max, n-e-way I was thinking 2 12W3's from JL or maybe even 2 12W6's but I wanted to see what y'all would recommend. I don't want to upgrade anything else...yet but I definitely need more bass for my music. Please suggest what to use (btw, I listen to mostly rap and hip-hop so I need a sub for DEEP bass). Thanks in advance.

P.S. I ONLY USE JL SUBS! JL's Da Bomb IMO so please don't recommend any other brands....just JL

?? Maybe you mean 2 w3s? Even so, from my experience there isn't too much of a difference between the w3 & w6 with the same amount of power. I wouldn't even say that 1 w6 would blow away 1 w3, to me they're very similar.

I'd recommend 2 w3s or a single w7 if you can afford that. Make sure you get a good amp to power whatever you decide on.

Thanks for the replies guys. I keep thinking about it and I'm probably going with the 2 12W6's because I like their new design. I also think I'll power them with the 1000/1 amp also from JL Audio and that should be a great amount of watts for it. Can't wait to hear it pound.

For the money you're gonna spend on 2 12W6s, you might look into a single 12W7 or 13W7 in a ported enclosure. I've heard that a single 13W7 in that set up sounds phenominal. Not only that, but if you already have a JL 1000.1, later on, if its still not loud enough, you can add another 1000.1 At that time, just run a 1000.1 to each voice coil. It'll handle way more than that. Just a suggestion!

Do what I'm doing, PAC Bose Interface which gives you the RCA's out of the Bose deck (this is not a hi to low converter) and thow in any amp that you like. We sell the PAC interface, email me at bryan@berktuning.com
