Trust Best Buy??

I have a 93 max with the damn non-working bose (see my other string: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=151557).
I went to best buy and he told me all the cables and things they would need to install to bypass the bose system (or something)and install a new head unit. He said it would be $200 for installing all the stuff, then the price of the new head unit. From what I've heard, everyone who went with bose speakers and an aftermarket head said it sounded like crap. Also, is this best buy guy ripping me off?
Help!

do not have best buy install your gear...leave it to the professionals

best buy overcharges on their installs and accessories.

how can I tell if an installer in the area is any good? The only places that come to mind are circuit city and a few small local places? Can I trust those guys?

talk with the installers. if they cant explain their way out of a cardboard box, MOVE ON! im trying to get a job at circuit city, but i know how to install anything except for an alarm...hopefully if i get a job their, theyll give me some training on it (enough to figure out how to do it better than the rest of their installers )

Go to the regional forums and ask the people in your area for recommendations on local installers, then go check them out. The best advertisement is happy customers..

Where do you live...There are some good installers working in crappy place like bb for more money (somtimes)...But for the most part you stay away from bb, cc, most tweeters. Hit the mom and pops...Ask for mecp...that helps most times. But certainly there are good ones with out the mecp.
