mounting tweeters in black mirror cover area
alright i was looking through the stickies and couldnt find the answer to my little Q.
i have a set of infinity kappa tweeters that i want to use in my non-bose equipped max. i dont want to cut the door panel, so i was noticing the mirror cover area would be a good place to mount these tweeters. my question is how much room is behind there to mount the tweeters? how do you take the black cover off? also i am not sure the design of other tweeters...but for these you have to cut a hole the size of the tweeter so it goes through and there is threading to screw a plastic nut on the back. so the tweeter is flush to the plastic on the outside and basically the rest of it is about an inch behind where you where you mount it.
sorry for such a newbie style question...but i havent done any audio work to my max yet. thanks

I dont know about 4th gen, but in my 5th gen there's enough room for Kappa tweets. I had recently installed those at Best Buy. Consider also mounting them on door panels-isn't it the place where Bose-equipped 4th gen cars have their tweeters mounted?

There isn't enough room to flush mount them there, but the sails work fine for a surface mount. They come off pretty easily after you take the door off...

I have my Focal tweeters flush mounted on the "sails", so its not impossible. The only thing is the sound imaging is not as good because it pulls the soundstage too far forward. I'm, going to move them once I buy new sails.
