imo

it's not worth it. i'm' assuming that if you have the auto pc you would want to go online while you're in the car. the wireless internet connection is still premature. its extremely unstable. cell phones are even unstable. you get disconnected all the time just for talking on them. the connection speed isn't as fast either. but i say if you really want a pc or something like that in your car, then i suggest you build one, or at least wait for a cheaper one to come out.. i forgot how much auto pc was but ithink somewhere around 2k. i don't think including the monitor tho. it comes with wireless keyboard and mouse.. i wanted one back in the days. but gonan hold on that til' wireless modems get better. (just so i can post faster while driving)

you have a lot of extra cash aying around, and like toys

It's cool. But not that cool. It's not audiophile quality, every add on costs at least a couple hundred or more, and it can be a distration while driving you want to play with it.
For that same amount , you could build a nice video system, or have a custom PC built for your car. I'm doing that for mine right know.It will come out cheaper.

dope

dope components you got there whitemax. dynadio are the bomb. but yeah, not only is it cheaper to have it custom built, you also have to according to your needs. none of those fancy useless programs. but then agian how useful and practical is it to have a pc in a car rather than a laptop??
either way i want one too.. haha

Or....

You could just get and Empeg player with Linux already installed on it and hack away as you'd like at it and built whatever your mind can come up with.

Just got my order invitation the other day for mine.

Thanks man... They cost me but worth every penny.

Hows this for overkill....
Not only am I building a PC for the car, I'm installing a 5 port Netgear hub( they run off 12 volts) so the PC has a port, as well as every door having a jack. I want to upgrade my headunit to accept an aux, signal in so I can connect the sound card to it and play MP3's.
I guess i could go with the Empeg player. That's a nice piece of hardware....

in my case, all my MP3's are on my laptop.

Easier and faster for me to transfer that way. Plus, get 2 other people together on a long trip and it's a frag fest! Mind you, the driver doesn't get to play

Re: in my case, all my MP3's are on my laptop.

The Empeg player has an Ethernet connection on it. Drive into the garage, fire up the Emplode software on the PC and download to your Empeg player while it sits in your car. Cool stuff.

Re: Oh ya, BTW Jambo...

Well, I haven't bought it yet, but I'm planning on the 6GB model for now. It IS expensive, but when you look at the features and "slick factor" of it, it's a pretty cool toy.

sorry folks

ohhh noooo what have a started.. stoppp the maddness... stop stop no go.. hahah.. aite i had enough..

but it would be awesome if the car did speak. "hello ____name" , "your trunk is currently ajar, please close the trunk before operating the vehicle"
"caution you have just struck or have been struck by a massive force, airbag will deploy immediately" or will it say "oS" man.. my car has a voice tho.. i got the navi in. it's real impressive, feels like there is some type of luxurious service that goes along with the car.. (heyy not that kinda service)
