what eclipse speakers?
what eclipse speakers?
Ok so the alpine 7894 is gonna be the deck, and now i have to find the right speakers. i was gonna go with infinity kappas, but now am gonna go with eclipses since i hear they are better. Im still not going to get an amp or sub. the deck has a built in one and thats all i need. what are really really good speakers for the front and what are really good 6x9's for the rear. I have a 3rd gen if you need to know. And i want 3ways dont I? they sound a lot better?
ou can hear them at your local Eclipse dealer...
You need 4x6 for the front in the 3rd Gen.
I have the 8062 6 1/2 components in the front of my 95. I am very happy with them.
I blew the tweeters due to my own negligence and Eclipse replaced them no questions asked (excellent 3 year warranty).

A) You dont know its origin
B) It may not be genuine equiptment (yes there are fakes)
C) May be refurb,b-stock,grey market, etc..
D) They are not authorized to sell it.

well i think im gonna first listen to them hooked up to the deck. then i have heard i may hear a loss in bass compared to the bose 6x9's due to the bass reflex in the bose. another question...i know the 4x6's are easy fit in the 3rd gen, how would the 61/2's fit in there? dont they sound better?
I'd have to agree with maximadave. I had the pointsource 8962's which is the 6.5 version for the back doors. The type of music that I listen to, they blew in about 2 weeks (hard rock = Nickelback, Creed, Korn, Metallica). I originally had the 32440 powering the front Focal's the deck running the pointsource, and the back 2 channels bridged for the 12W3. I had spent $200 on the pointsources, that I couldnt even hear over the Focals in the front, and the sub behind me. If you can, I'd HIGHLY recommend amplifying the pointsources.

well wouldnt getting an amp increase my chances to blow the speaker? and you said you blew yours in 2 weeks...i listen to everything from techno, rap, alternative, to rock.

I actually also have an Eclipse 5channel amp avaiable (in stock), if you choose to do an amp. The reason for the 5th channel would be if you do decide to add a sub later, you would not need to buy an amp for it.

Blue, I actually only blew one side, and the eclipse amp shut off power to the other...because of safety, according to the stereo shop. I believe I blew it because the crossovers to them were getting too much bass. The crossover is actually on the speaker. I'd recommend them, however in my case they weren't loud enough. Don't get me wrong, the clarity of these speakers rivals some good component sets, but how they were angled in the back doors...people's ankles sure were getting good music, but it dissipated going up to their ears. This is why I decided to put components in the back, which could handle a little bit more power. BTW, my eclipse amp puts out 85x4, which is more than enough for the music that I listen to. Just stick to the manufacturer's rms ratings, and you'll be fine.

thats the problem......everyone thinks that too much power is what actually blows a speaker...its the other way around...when u underpower a speaker, its not getting enought power to play efficiently and when u try playing it loud it gets so distorted that it damages the speaker, then eventualy BAM...dead speaker. You will probably be better of getting a speaker that requires less power handeling so it will play more effciently. I like Boston acoustics cause ive installed hundereds of systems, and they have never turned me wrong. Unless your going with that 5 channel amp, id just go with some fx6 bostons which retail for about 120, but sound hella clear and nice. Those Bostons can get real loud and clear, but only need between 20 to 45 watts RMS to work efficiently. If u want the eclipses, and dont wanna blow em up...get amp....otherwise stick with what i stated and u will be happy. GL
ok, is there a do it yourself step by step manual to install all this yourself? i have never installed any stereo equipment before. and don, im a college student working a part time job. So, so far im up to like $800+ and im gonna have to buy piece by piece or save for like a month and buy it all. and what alpine amp is that?

Eclipse Audio
Eclipse highs are very dry, they will have you thirsty for bass because the lack it big time.
I love the 6.5" components. They are up front in my car.
The coaxials which I have in the rear deck suck. They dont handle enough power if you ever plan to amp them.
The point sources sound real nice, and the 6x9's are great and they have some nice mid bass.
