Cheapest way to add CD?
Cheapest way to add CD?
I have a 92 Maxima SE with Bose system. It doesn't have a CD player, only cassette which isn't even working, and radio of course. I have little money at the moment, but wondering what's the cheapest/easiest way to add CD-playing capability to my car?

Unfortunately as I said above, the cassette player isn't working. At least not with regular cassette. When I put a cassette in it would make clicking noise like it was trying to switch sides (A to B, etc) that would not stop. It usually won't eject the cassette out too, without some 'persuasion'. Do you think it'll still work with cassette adapter?

But problem is the stock bose already have pretty good sound quality...
Also, wouldn't I have to replace all speakers in a Bose system to do that, as they won't work with a different headunit? That would up the cost very quickly, especially for a system that would sound as good (or better) as the Bose...

So you run the new wires from the HU directly to the speakers and ignoring the factory wires and the amps?
Hmmm, sounds good, a new HU will look better too. I guess I just have to save up to get a good quality head unit. Which would be better for a given money (say $170), an entry level model from a well known brand (Alpine, Kenwood etc.) or a mid level model from a less established brand (Aiwa, JVC, etc.)?

Cheap and new Nissan 6-CD changer
Happened to find this site:
https://www.1stnissanparts.com/acata...seout_154.html
I purchased the same one before for $119 shipped to the door, so to me this is the second cheapest one.

Thanks folks!
Some kind hearted soul from this forum just offered me a Clarion CD-Changer that plays through FM channel for $70. Looks like a good, affordable way to add CD playing capability! Multiple CDs too!
Do you know if it's possible to install the CD changer somewhere in the interior? You know, maybe below the passenger seat or somewhere. So you don't have to get out of the car and go to the trunk to change CDs.
