Hole for speaker wire......

Where's a good place to drill a hole for the speaker wires so that I could take them back to the amp?

Or is there another way to get around that?

I have component speakers and I want to get the wires for the door to the trunk and I do not know a way to do so.

Any help will greatly be appriciated, as this project is very frustrating.

Wires can be run along the baseboard edge next to drivers and passenger step plate or along the headliner and with no drilling, slip them into the trunk through the existing spaces already there...if the rear seats are moved forward or removed, you will see there is plenty of space.

I guess my question was poorly put. What I meant was, I have a 12 gauge speaker wire and I want to get from the cabin to the front doors. I need to some how get the 12 gauge wire from the step plate to the front door and also be able to get in and out of the car without tripping over the wires, so that the component speakers receive it.

I hope that's better stated. Thanks again.

sounds like the same process a person would go through in order to wire up their alarm to lock/unlock the doors. There's a writeup somewhere. Basically, you hafta drill...kinda sucks.

Yeah, I was hoping I wouldn't have to resort to that. Well I got a quote from stereo west, just in case I needed to drill, and they told me they would do it for $40.00 for both doors.

What do you think of the quote? Too much? Just right?

I didnt' think that there would so much things you would have to do in order to install component speakers and an amp. If I knew I had to go through all this trouble and that I'd end up spending $800.00. I wouldn't even attempt this. All I gotta say now is that I hope this is worth the time and money.

Thanks again

Hey, I never thought of that. And that fits by doing that method?

I'm gonna try this on Friday and see how it works. What type of wire gauge did you use and did you have more than one wire going through that?

Thanks for the info TylerBorg.

This can and has worked many times. Except for 5th gens...unfortunately you have to drill due to the Molex plug.

I just finished putting a 12 and 16 gauge wire through the oem grommet and was really happy it worked, as well as a nice cut and a couple of scrapes on my hands, but it was worth it. Figured out later I didn't need the 16 gauge in the grommet, so I have it now as my turn on switch.

Thanks to everyone for the help, I'm so glad and relieved that I didn't need to drill holes and saved $40.00.
