Depends on your budget. I am considering getting CDT Small Box 10 (onsale for very cheep). I also like Image Dynamics IDQ10.V2. In a higher price range, Brahma 10 and JL 10W7 are good choices.

those CDT's look like some nice subs. i'm trying to get rid of my tempest, and when i do i'll probably pick one of those 8"s up if they still have them in stock.

Go to www.rmscaraudio.com check out the powermouse systems. You can get the pm110 in a box. It is able to do 140db and can get a custom design on your box, also comes with a neon light installed. It will beat out the 10" JLw7

Please don't quote somethng as subjective as an spl number. It leaves so much unsaid. The install is what yields spl. Heck, someone could probably get a kracko 4 inch mid to hit 140 dB's if they thought about it long enough. Besides, it only takes 100dB or less to be in the range of causing permanent hearing damage. I think over 125 and it's near instantaneous damage.

That being said a budget of your system is needed to give advice on speakers, amps, etc. And let us know what you want to do with this set-up. Impress the teenagers in your school? With something really loud that sounds like crud when playing music? Or something that you can ride around for 24 hours straight and not get tired of? That is what I go for. It's somewhere on my list after perfection.

The Type E is a budget sub. I think they have fairly limited ability as a window rattler. But it could have been the boxes that my neighbor has them in. If you are looking for something on a low budget I would not go with a brand name like Alpine. You will be paying $50 just for the name on the speaker. That's if you get it on ebay for $51. Alpine makes some really good stuff. But none of it is for budget minded people.

I have not heard the type-E's first hand, but i dont doubt that they are good for the money.

My friend is actually buying some soon i believe, so i'll let you know about that.

Otherwise check out the adire audio shiva, or maybe an image dynamics idq. Great sq with enough spl to keep you happy

Cheap but ok

I have an all Alpine system but saw this great deal on Bazooka products for a like new 10 sub and 260 wt amp for less than 30 bucks shipped. They are decent but for that price you can't beat it. it also comes with a year warranty. I bought two tens just for the heck of it.
