Increasing Loudness??

I just got my 2 12 Shivas with a JBL 1200.1 powering them.... its decently loud. I was wondering If I could do anything to make it louder outside the car etc, like taking the cover off of the stock Bose subwoofer or cutting out the fabric behind the arm rest.......

Im not sure if they wired the subs correctly, at dual 8 ohms they should be taking the 2 ohm load from the JBL amp at 1200 RMS, so around 600 a peice...... yet my friends 2 12' W3's with 250 a peice are a hell of a lot louder. Maybe because he has a larger box in the back of an SUV though...

I'm not sure what gen Max you have, but I removed the bose sub on my 5th gen and it was like night and day. The bose sub sucks and the new hole gave a great port for the bass to filter in the cabin.

Your buddy's car is going to be louder. He has an SUV, and doesn't need to go through the back seat

what kind of box are you using? sealed, ported, bandpass?
which way are the subs facing? front, back, in, out, up?

try facing them backwards if you want the most SPL. forward helps on the SQ a bit, but you lose a little volume.

Also, an SUV is going to be louder in general.. they're just built different and lower frequencies work better in hatchbacks and SUVs due tot he shape and size of the car's cabin.

sealed facing towards the trunk. I increased the input level and bass boost on my amp and removed the stock bose sub, major improvement. No more bottoming out and nice clean bass.

Excellent

Doesn't that Bose sub look weird?
