3 Alpine Type R's?

I curently run 3 fosgate he 12's off a jbl 600x1 amp...i've always liked alpine products and recently found type r 12's for $115 each online, the question is how are they, i've never heard them...im going more for system versatility, right now it sounds good with almost any type of music but i want a sub that can handle a little more so i can upgrade my amp to the 1200x1 jbl but upgrading to DVC subs would leave me with more wiring options as well as harder hiting subs...are type r's the way to go?

I have a friend w/ 2 type-r 12's in a ported box w/ the jbl1200.1 He has it in a 240 so it's pretty loud. They're pretty good speakers.

really...2 of them can take the 1200 or does he have it turned down a little, my boys got 2 18's in his blazer and i convinced him to buy that amp once his lightning audio blew and its insane, we turned the amp up like 3/4 of the way and it was to loud to sit in the back seat and made his cd player skip...i love my jbl amps

Yea, those amps are insane. Really nice amps for the price. He really can't turn the music up that loud right now, b/c it's winter. But he says those subs just eat up the power he gives it.
