Aftermarket specialty air intake

Aftermarket specialty air intake
Looking at a maxi that appears to have some sort of hp booster air intake boost system, of which I know absolutely nothing.
Should I walk away because I don't need that type of system and don't want to babysit any more car repairs? Is it no big deal?
I have a picture from seller but I can't find a way to post it.

I think a picture of what you're talking about might help.
Maybe the seller is just referring to an aftermarket intake system, which there are many of. They all advertise some sort of small HP gain. In most cases, they won't do any harm to the car. If it was easy to put on, it won't be hard to remove and replace with the old system... if that's what you would prefer.

Seller says it is an INJEN intake. Came with it when he got it 5yrs ago.
Any babysitting or neediness or loud sounds with these things?

No. But they are just for looks more than function. If you look down at the end it is right behind the radiator so it's sucking hot air.

That's the HAI/hot air intake.
You can mod it to go into your fender, but I say just forget it altogether.
OEM is better than the Injen, but it shouldn't stop you from buying the car if that's the only "issue."
If you want more engine noise and a better plug and play intake, get a Popcharger.

Trying to get a pic via photobucket and it wont reset my old info. So...
Trying to get it straight here:
It's purpose.
It's babysitting.
It's noise?
If it's passive then ok, but not after some noise catching sound. No frills wanted or needed but if it can just be left alone so to speak then ok.
That's what I need to know.

It's purpose.
Sold as a performance intake, but isn't a good design to be so because of the heat soak from its placement behind the radiator.
It's babysitting.
No more than a regular filter really.
Any intake that's lower to the ground you'll want to be mindful of deep puddles; which you should generally avoid anyways.
It's noise?
Will be louder than an OEM intake.
You might like it, might not.
