I've posted some other threads and have searched everywhere and haven't really found a straight answer as to which 6.5 speaker gives the most bass. I was thinking about getting a sub and amp, but after I got a quote for the system and installation and considering the battery drainage, I'm reconsidering. Bass to some people is not to others so i dunno which to decide. So between Rainbow,Focal, Boston, Diamond, Arc, Polk, Rockford, Infinity, JBL, Pioneer, Sony, Eclipse. Which one will give me the most bass without buying subs. I was initially looking for the infinity reference considering that they can be had for 100/set of 4 and have 30% more area for bass. This is all gonna be powered by my pioneer 4400 headunit,no external amp

and why you wanna pump out try to pump bass from just a 6.5" is beyond me. Your obviously looking for a lil kick, so you might wanna consider installing 6x9's.

Right now im running Eclipse 6.5" comps up front(set at 120hz HP) and Pioneer Premier 3way 6x9's in the back(set at 80hz HP) perfect for hard and clean mid bass. My JL's do all the rest

I would definitely recommend the Diamond Audio 6.5" Hex Series 600a Components. They give pretty good bass for front door speakers.

Boston 6.5s I really like, some nice kick for a 6.5 If you have the 6.5^3 you get even more

It is possible to fit 8's in our front doors (4th gen). If you want bass up front, dynamat the hell outta your front doors and mount some 8's up front.

thanks for all your help. I guess i cant run away from the inevitable. I think i'm goin to do some polk coaxials all around and run a rockford punch HE sub in a square box that i'll make and a amp. Will some1 recommend me the best and cheapest amp to run the Rockford HE 10''(4ohm)

Me too. the Eclipses do have very good midbass performance.

Rockford 300s will be plenty of power for the 10".

"bass" is usally thought of as the frequencys below 100hz, true bass to most audiophiles is somewhere lowre than 80hz, Which one will produce it the best...That kinda depends on the setup, and the speaker in generel...But typically most do not play below 50hz very well...Look at the specs and you can somewhat judge from that. There are a few that can play down to 20hz, such as the focal 5 inch subs, but they do not play above 300hz very well, in generel there is no truely perfact 6.5 that will play up to 5k and down to 20hz, if you find it let me know.

On another note it is worth the so called drain on the battery to have a small subby. You do not need mega power and massive enclosures that have become popular to get solid bass.

I have a 10" sub in an enclosure and it gives me plenty bass. You won't hear me coming from down the block, but It bangs just right for me. I'm older, but I do like good sound. With the subs I hear lows that my 6.5 focals can't reproduce.

I think if you're looking for a simple setup with good results, that may be a good one. I agree with PJ, I have one 10" sub and I'm plenty happy with it. Won't win any competitions with it, but I didn't intend to when I started. Sounds to me like if you would be happy with the bass from 6.5's, 1 10"sub should put you through the roof...hehe I think the polks will be really decent speakers too. You might do some shopping around for the best prices, even Crutchfield is having specials right now, like buy one pair, get the second pair half price. Plus you get the wiring harnesses and stuff too.

Shucks, if you get the first pair for $100, second pair for $50,,,sub for about $100, and sub amp for about $200, you're looking at a total rebuild for around $500. That's not too bad IMHO. Whatever you decide,,,,,GOOD LUCK!!!

Focal Polyglass's have the most midbass I have ever heard from 6.5's, they just arent quite as clear as the Polykevlars,but man I wish I could afford utopia's

As I was building my system I had my Focal 6.5 up front and some fosgate 6.5 Coaxles in the rear. I didn't have my 10" sub yet, but I thought that the bass(mid bass) from the Focals were pretty thumping. That was until I installed my sub. like I said before, you don't know what lows you're missing until you install the subwoofer.

Look at my sub..........hear my system, then you know what lows are! hehehe

only speakers out of the selection u gave that i've heard are diamond audio's and i have nothing but positive things to say about them. They hit strong and can take a lot (HEX)
