GPS Question

Ok, so I'm picking up my I30 on Saturday and already I have big plans for it. For starters, I would love to have a GPS setup. Lord knows that I *always* get lost in Jersey. In any case, I like the clean look of the 7" screens that were in a recent group buy. Nice and clean. So, can you hook up a GPS navigation system (like Alpine, Kenwood, or Pioneer) to a plain jane screen like that? I'm trying to avoid a flip up screen. My goal is to have a screen take up the two din slots, a CD/DVD/MP3 player where the pocket is, and the nav unit under the seat or so.

Doable?

im not 100% sure, but I think that you must buy the same nav unit and screen. So i dont think it would work, most people only hook Ps2's and stuff to the 7in screen they were selling cause it hooks thru RCA ports.

one thing you could do is build a computer for your car. I've done this as well as many others. You can use a PC based GPS to hook up to your screen. Most standalone gps units i've ever seen have their own screen.

You might want to check www.gps4fun.com for an idea of what's available as far as gps.

I don't really check the A&E forum.. so you might want to pm me with any questions you have for me.

Not really.........

Go to www.pioneer.com . They have two (very pricey) navagation units. However, there is a monitor that Pioneer designed to be compatible with other units (not quite sure, you should check the specs.) Never mind, here you go:

AVIC-505 .....$1,300 bucks m.s.r.p.
AVD-W6010.....$850.00 bucks m.s.r.p. (nav monitor)

Just went there and didn't feel like retyping. Those models should be cheaper now, since they got the high-end stuff available.....
