what kind of BOX to use (please Read)
my friend has a grandcherokee with a MA audio 1000w AMP 2 MA Audio Subs 1000 watts max each. HE has a Huge Box with 2 whole on the top I am not sure if that is ported or BAnd Pass. His System can be heard 2 blocks away and is very loud.
In my 4th gen Maxima I have a 1200w MA audio AMP. with 2 12's that are each 1200 Watt max in a small sealed box I will try to get a pic up. and it shakes in the cabin but I want it to shake like my friends.
My amp and subs are better and aren't even half as loud as his
Any suggestions on what kind of Box to get?

well a sealed box will put out less db's than a ported or bandpass box. dont forget its an suv your going against, which is not fair because they have no trunks which means more spl than you'll have. twice the power= 3 more dbs. so you'll need a whole lot more just to compete with an sux. be happy your in a max nd not a suv.

Position your sub box against the rear seats, with the subs facing the rear of the car. Also, add port(s), on the same surface as the woofers, if you can.

Do not just think that you can add ports and be done with it. Proper box size is just as if not more important that type of box. Check the manufactures specs to see what the proper size boxes are. My guess is you will need almost twice as much airspace for a ported box than for the sealed. Also don't forget that the figures are inside volume figures, don't include the thickness of the wood.

From the pictures it looks like your subs are the XL Series. MA's site has these specs:
Optimum Vented Box: 3.25 Cu. Ft.
Port Size: 2- 4” (d) x 14.75” (l)
Optimum Sealed Box: 1.0 – 1.4 Cu. Ft.
Keep in mind this is for one sub. From the pics it looks as though your box is def. too small. So double this and make/buy a box that fits these specs.
